32ND EDITION

IL CINEMA RITROVATO 2018

32th EDITION

How should one negotiate a festival that, over the course of eight days, showcases more than 500 titles (shorts, features, animations, documentaries) produced on five continents between 1888 (a Chronophotography) and the present day? A film festival is a concrete, rather than theoretical, thing and so we should begin with places and people. One thing that is new about the 2018 edition is that it begins with two events that take place ten days before the official opening of the festival and far from Piazza Maggiore, in the DOM in Pilastro and the Teatro Centofiori in Corticella. The metropolitan borough of Bologna is now home to over one million inhabitants and the citizens who fill the festival’s venues come from all over the city. This year we would like the festival to begin to move beyond the city centre, travelling through the periphery and next year arriving in other boroughs within the city limits.
