Il Cinema Ritrovato 2018 opens in the (re)construction site of the Modernissimo Cinema, which Cineteca di Bologna is currently restructuring in the heart of the city, beside Piazza Maggiore. The festival’s four directors – Cecilia Cenciarelli, Gian Luca Farinelli, Ehsan Khoshbakht and Mariann Lewinsky, will present the XXXII edition of the festival to the public, and they will introduce a special programme of films from 1898 to 1918 – including the first episode of the famous silent series Wolves of Kultur by Joseph Golden, accompanied on piano by Daniele Furlati. The magic of cinema of a century ago, in the suggestive setting of a cinema theatre originally inaugurated in 1915. Our ‘underground’ visions will continue, twice a day, with the successive episodes of the series (fifteen in total, jointly restored by sixteen film archives from around the world), all accompanied by live music.
