The Cinephiles’ Heaven, as it was affectionately called by the festival’s long-time artistic director Peter von Bagh, does not refer merely to one the three main sections of the programme. Rather it expresses the most authentic and comprehensive vocation of Il Cinema Ritrovato: the Cineteca di Bologna’s festival is a true Garden of Cinematic Delights for every film lover.

The segment, in particular, brings together the programme’s central meeting points: the unmissable events. The dazzling new restorations of masterpieces from the world over, as presented in the section Recovered & Restored, a true highlight of the festival, alongside tributes to major film stars, celebrated Italian and international filmmakers, and special guests. Year after year, their presence contribute to making the festival a privileged place for meeting, discovery and shared love of cinema.
