The Festival’s Two Open-Air Venues

Two unforgettable moments from the Festival’s under-the-stars programme on Tuesday, 23rd June.
In Piazza Maggiore, Orson Welles’ The Stranger (USA, 1946) was screened, introduced by Frédéric Bonnaud and preceded by the recently rediscovered Hitchcock home movies, with musical accompaniment by Daniele Furlati and live commentary by Tessa Idlewine (Academy Film Archive).

Meanwhile, in Piazzetta Pasolini, the The Century of Cinema: 1906 section brought audiences the magic of a carbon-arc lantern screening, 1906 – Cinématographe Géant, accompanied by Gabriel Thibaudeau on piano, Frank Bockius on drums, and live narration by bonimenteuse Julie Linquette. The event was introduced by Manuela Padoan (Gaumont Pathé Archives) and Mariann Lewinsky.
