Film Notes

The only original recording known today of Valentino’s voice was made on the 14 May 1923 in New York in the studios of the Bronswick Bocky Columned Company. On this occasion, Rudy sang two songs, El Relicario (in Spanish) and Kashmiri Song (in English). The recording was probably meant to be exploited on record. From a recording onto magnetic tape, found in the archives of the Cineteca Nazionale, it has been possible to restore, using digital technology, this rare document. A short has been created and edited based on this unpublished tape, a gift of the Cineteca Nazionale to the memory of Rudy, utilising a series of photographic images of the actor, coming partly from the Archivio fotografico del Centro Sperimentale di Cinematographia and for the rest made available by the Cineteca del Comune di Bologna and by Italian and foreign collectors and archives.
