Let’s begin with the photograph chosen for the poster, a revealing image for the festival’s identity. At first glance it doesn’t stir particular interest. It is a photo from a scene that could come from any film produced at a time in which there was no shortage of cinema. It is an image like many others. But if we look a little closer, in the center of the photo we can see one of the great actors of Italian cinema, Aldo Fabrizi, Don Pietro in Roma città aperta, struggling with the law. Then we notice that the set is the south side of Piazza Maggiore. We can make out Palazzo del Podestà, San Petronio, the Neptune Fountain, Palazzo de’ Banchi. The image starts to appear intriguing. Italian cinema has always been primarily Roman. Very few films were shot in Bologna, at least until the Sixties
