Tri gheroini (The Three Heroines) was a lost film. It has never been seen since that 1938, when Vertov directed this film, a very interesting example of the director’s activity in the 30s, when he was forced to forget his art, to refuse his avant-garde experiments, and to adopt the rhetoric of Stalin’s regime. So, a double interest: a Stalinist film, and a lost fdm, together in a good print taken from the original negative, which was waiting for researchers on its shelf, as often happens to “lost” films.
