The film depicts the festivities at a famous Stockholm restaurant when Svenska Filmsamfundet (the origins of the Archival Film Collections of the Svenska Filminstitutet) celebrated its 20th anniversary in 1953. Among the recipients of awards at this gala event were director Gustaf Molander, actors Anita Björk, Lars Hanson and Naima Wifstrand, and legendary cinematographer Julius Jaenzon. The highlight of the event is the appearance of Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini, arriving late in casual clothes after driving all the way from Italy in a car.
