In the second part of the programme, motifs introduced in the first are revisited. Like other popular arts, early cinema has its stock characters and stereotypes, among them the much-maligned mother-in-law. 1906 was also a pivotal year for Italian film production, with new companies being founded: Cines in Rome and Ambrosio in Turin. This year also saw the very first screen appearance of future film star Henny Porten and her sister, Rosa Porten, actress, film director and script writer, in the Messter Ton- Bild: Meissener Porzellan.
