Recently preserved by the National Film Archive, this Powell’s previously lost film is one al the 23 low-budget films he directed between 1931 end 1936, before he met Emeric Pressburger. Here is the Variety review published on 11/6/1935: “Play did not set London afire, and neither will the film. Picture is better then the play, but the celluloid unwinding is a trifle too involved for the majority of film-goers. […] Director sets the piece in exactly the right key, has produced it tastefully and most of the details contribute to the good effect”.
