“Hans Westmar is one of us”. In a sad and depressing Munich, the film shows Hans Westmar as a young, handsome and brave nazi who struggles for Germany – an early nazi martyr – and for ‘freedom” against the “Reds”, in the name of Adolf Hitler. The film tells the long and sad story of his on-violent battle against the brutal communists always portrayed with asiatic and semitic faces) who, finally betray him and shoot him down. Then, the ending is a masterpiece of nazi mystic: the shadow of Hans Westmar leads an endless column Brown Shirts in Munich’s streets, and the whole German people join the flow, including the dirty ommt’nists who are finally converted.

Unfortunately the film exceeded in hagiography and – probably – was too much centered on the SA troops, in a moment when Hitler was trying to exterminate them. So, the film had a similar fate to Camicia nera: it was a very nazi film, which the nazis didn’t like.
