The young engineer Frede falls in love with an actress who turns out to be a femme fatale of the worst kind. He succeeds in leaving her and settles down in a provincial town but a year later she comes looking for him. He can’t help but fall in love with her again, but in the meantime she has fallen for his brother and when he sees her in his brother’s arms, suicide is his only option.
