Set in Ancient Greece, From Death to Life tells the story of Aratus’s attempt to turn flesh into stone. If the film offers a cautionary tale about scientific experimentation, especially the temptation to control life and death, it also furnishes a lesson about the dangers of ignoring a feminine point of view, here associated with compassion, humanity, and respect for the powers of creation. Stop-motion cinematography is used to portray Aratus’s experiments.
