Bad Girl was Barzage’s first “realistic” film and a major box-office hit. Although wellknown, it must be present in a program of films of the early Thirties, especially if it can be compared with the unlucky Straheim’s Walking Down Broadway (which will be presented in the only existing version, Hello Sister!, as cut and campletely changed by Alan Werker) that has many similarities that do emphasize the many differencies existing between the two directors, as Stroheim’s film was the “hard” version of Barzage’s.
