The Main Cinema + Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Feb. 12-15, 2026 The 4th edition of Il Cinema Ritrovato on Tour brings rare and restored films from Bologna's annual archival film festival to the Twin Cities. Curated by Archives on Screen, Twin Cities, Il Cinema Ritrovato on Tour returns to the Twin Cities for a fourth year, presenting rare, restored, and recovered archival cinema. This year’s Il Cinema Ritrovato on Tour will take place at two venues, screening films on February 12, 14, and 15 at the Main Cinema, and on February 13 at the Walker Art Center. Presented in partnership with Archives on Screen, the MSP Film Society, and Cineteca di Bologna, the festival screens highlights from Il Cinema Ritrovato’s 2025 lineup.

The 39th edition of Il Cinema Ritrovato – with its 170,000 spectators, special guests at Cinema Modernissimo, from Terry Gilliam to Jim Jarmusch, cineconcerts in Piazza Maggiore and screenings at 8 cinema theatres throughout the city – was memorable. Therefore, preparations are already being made to celebrate 40 years of the festival, to be held (contrary to what was previously announced) from 20 to 28 June 2026.

The festival Cinema Rediscovered has just come to an end in the city of Bristol - UNESCO City of Film - (23 - 27 July 2025) with 80+ screenings and events combining screenings of newly restored films, rediscoveries and film-on-film rarities.

In the section Restored & Rediscovered, several titles come directly from Il Cinema Ritrovato's programme including Charles Burnett’s directorial debut Killer of Sheep (1977), a touchstone of the influential LA Rebellion movement.

From 6 to 31 August 2025 Cineteca Milano presents Il meglio del Cinema Ritrovato 2025 (The Best of Il Cinema Ritrovato). Films on the programme include Five Easy Pieces, The Paradine Case, Sunset Boulevard, L'horologer de Saint-Paul, Duel in the Sun, One Hour With You, Diabolik, Und Das Am Montagmorgen, Lifeboat and Aranyer Din Ratri.

140mila spettatori: Il Cinema Ritrovato festeggia una 39ª edizione in ulteriore crescita e si prepara alle celebrazioni per i 40 anni del festival promosso dalla Cineteca di Bologna, che nel 2026 si svolgerà dal 27 giugno al 5 luglio.

Venerdì 27 giugno al Cinema Modernissimo si è tenuta la Lezione di cinema di Jonathan Glazer. Proponiamo alcuni nuclei trattati dal regista.

Il regista di La zona d'interesse, sta già lavorando ad un nuovo film. Se gli ultimi suoi tre li ha realizzati con una distanza, tutte le volte, di una decina di anni, per questo nuovo passerà molto meno. Parlando della sua formazione , ha dichiarato che il primo film che ha visto al cinema è stato Grease e ha ammesso di non essere stato un assiduo frequentatore della sala: da teenager ha ricevuto una vera e propria educazione filmica sul cinema classico ma tramite la televisione, grazie alla mediazione del padre appassionato cinefilo. Il primo diverso da quelli che vedeva con il padre è O Lucky Man di Lindsay Anderson, che è stata, inoltre, la prima pellicola che lo abbia davvero colpito e che abbia iniziato ad indirizzarlo verso il desiderio di fare cinema.
