Film Notes

“One certainly cannot say that Genuine has been a lucky film: a total flop at the box office, destroyed by the critics and labelled as a ‘purely commercial operation’, it was for a long time an invisible work, available only in two black and white versions, each of which was reduced to half of its original length. Finally, thanks to the work of the Münchner Filmmuseum, Genuine has returned to a length which is very similar to the original and above all has reacquired its original colours, obtained from the comparison of the two surviving nitrate copies, at the film archives of Lausanne and Tolouse”.
