Film Notes

Judging by the surviving excerpt and the continuity script, this film was no less interesting and important than By the Law. This is the only Kuleshov fictional film of the 1920’s that deals with the Soviet reality and Aleksandra Hohlova ’s only part as a modern woman. Aleksandr Rodcenko, a major avant-garde artist, was in charge of production design, and it is his work that gives this film its vibrant sense of the epoch.
