This year\u2019s conversation with Gian Luca Farinelli, entitled\u00a0<em>Nouvelle creation, nouveaux public,<\/em>\u00a0promises to be no less enthralling.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Auditorium DAMSLab<\/strong> \u2013\u00a03pm and 6.15pm<br \/>\n<strong>Documents and Documentaries: King Kong and\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>Cam\u00e9ra arabe<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em>The\u00a0<em>Documents and Documentaries\u00a0<\/em>section<em>\u00a0<\/em>takes us on an exploration of two cinematographic cultures, two distant and very different industries which represent the variety of souls that cohabit Il Cinema Ritrovato.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/proiezione\/camera-arabe\/\"><em>Cam\u00e9ra arabe<\/em><\/a>\u00a0is a journey into the history of Arab cinema, through clips taken from fundamental films from its twenty golden years (1966 to 1986), allowing us to rediscover one of the cinemas that Western audiences are less familiar with. Engraved into the collective consciousness, King Kong is perhaps the very first myth invented by cinema, and he comes back to life in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/proiezione\/king-kong-le-coeur-des-tenebres\/\"><em>King Kong, le c\u0153ur des t\u00e9n\u00e8bres<\/em><\/a>. The documentary recounts the creation of the character by explorer-filmmakers Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, who gave life to an icon that remains undisputed even today.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cinema Modernissimo\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 11am and 6.40pm<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/programma\/?qlayout=mosaic&amp;qed=2446&amp;qprj=1&amp;qev=1&amp;qcat=0&amp;qsec=81122&amp;qday=20250624,&amp;qplace=44417,&amp;qtime=0\"><strong>The cinephile soul of Luigi Comencini<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nIn addition to celebrating one of the key authors of Italian cinema, the section dedicated to Luigi Comencini also testifies to the importance of rediscovering and preserving cinematographic memory, demonstrated by the splendid anthology of the most significant early films deposited by Comencini at Cineteca Milano (which he also helped to found), introduced at Cinema Modernissimo by his daughters Francesca and Cristina: an homage to the cinephile soul of a director who was nurtured on the classics of the silent era. Memory is also at the centre of another film introduced by Francesca Comencini at Cinema Modernissimo,<em>\u00a0La ragazza di Bube<\/em>: based on the Strega Prize-winning novel by Carlo Cassola and lit up by Claudia Cardinale\u2019s performance, the film adaptation accentuated the book\u2019s reflection on the Resistance, thanks to the use of flashbacks and Carlo Rustichelli\u2019s melancholic score.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Auditorium\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u2013\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>DAMSLab and Cinema Modernissimo\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 4.30pm\u00a0|\u00a0<strong>Piazzetta Pier Paolo Pasolini<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 7pm<br \/>\n<strong>Lucky to be a woman: Suso Cecchi d\u2019Amico, Mara Blasetti and M\u00e1rta M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros<\/strong><br \/>\nThe book being presented in Piazzetta Pasolini is dedicated to the great Suso Cecchi d\u2019Amico. Her daughter Caterina d\u2019Amico and Francesco Piccolo have selected four of her more than 120 screenplays (including the one for the film by Blasetti which lends its title to the volume,<a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/evento\/presentazione-suso-cecchi-damico-la-fortuna-di-essere-donna-e-altre-storie-per-il-cinema\/\">\u00a0<em>La fortuna di essere donna e altre storie per il cinema<\/em><\/a>, published by Einaudi) to paint a portrait of an author who literally wrote the history of Italian cinema. She is but one of the many female figures at Il Cinema Ritrovato \u2013 an aspect we will continue to emphasise until every talented artist from every era and latitude has emerged from the shadows to which they have been relegated by cinema history. As is the case with Mara Blasetti, the legendary Italian production manager, too often remembered only for her surname, to whom Michela Zegna has dedicated a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/proiezione\/nel-nome-di-mara-storia-di-una-direttrice-di-produzione\/\">portrait<\/a>. Finally, we will be presenting three restored shorts by Hungarian director\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/proiezione\/a-lorinci-fonoban-bobita-meszaros-laszlo-emlekere\/\">M\u00e1rta M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros<\/a>, from which her grace in narrating the most fragile human experiences in new and unconventional ways emerges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Piazza Maggiore\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 9.45pm<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/proiezione\/brazil\/\"><strong>Terry Gilliam presents\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>Brazil<\/strong><\/em><\/a><br \/>\n\u201cThe location of\u00a0<em>Brazil<\/em>\u00a0is the cinema itself, because in the cinema the dream is the norm.\u201d These are the words Salman Rushdie used to describe Terry Gilliam\u2019s masterpiece, which will illuminate the night sky in the most beautiful cinema in the world, under the stars of Piazza Maggiore. And there is no better location to attempt to contain the wonder, the irreverent spirit, the taste for hyperbole of the ex-Monty Python: the brilliant Terry Gilliam is one of the special guests at this year\u2019s festival, and in addition to presenting the film in Piazza Maggiore he will be the protagonist of a\u00a0Cinema Lesson\u00a0which promises to be memorable on Wednesday 25 June.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cinema Arlecchino\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 2.30pm<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/proiezione\/yi-yi\/\"><strong>Il Cinema Ritrovato Young presents\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong>Yi Yi<\/strong><\/em><\/a><br \/>\nMichel Ciment called it an \u201coeuvre-monde\u201d:\u00a0<em>Yi Yi<\/em>, the final film by Taiwanese director Edward Yang, is a family portrait recounted with clarity of style and narration and such richness as to be able to describe an entire society through the stories of its characters. The film will be introduced by Il Cinema Ritrovato Young, a group of twenty or so young cinephiles aged between 16 and 20, who, thanks to an educational project organised and run by Schermi e Lavagne, curate sections and present films in Cineteca di Bologna venues throughout the year. Over the course of the festival, they will also be producing video clips, reviews and interviews with festival guests and the public.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/programma\/?qlayout=mosaic&amp;qed=2446&amp;qprj=1&amp;qev=1&amp;qcat=0&amp;qsec=81093&amp;qday=20250624,&amp;qplace=0&amp;qtime=0\"><strong>Recovered and Restored<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nA new day of\u00a0<em>Recovered and Restored<\/em>\u00a0in which to journey through the images of different genres, cinemas and historical periods. Starting off in Japan and Mikio Naruse\u2019s post-war\u00a0<em>Ukigumo<\/em>, a story of unrequited love that becomes a reflection on the sense of displacement experienced by an entire generation. Continuing with an excellent debut work, Max Oph\u00fcls\u2019\u00a0<em>Die verliebte Firma<\/em>, and two appointments dedicated to the irresistible Laurel and Hardy. Alongside cornerstones of cinema history such as\u00a0<em>Sunset Boulevard<\/em>, there\u2019s also room for some of the most popular genres, from the turbulent western\u00a0<em>Duel in the Sun\u00a0<\/em>to the extreme thriller\u00a0<em>Non si sevizia un paperino<\/em>.
