{"id":73072,"date":"2023-06-20T10:30:09","date_gmt":"2023-06-20T08:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/?p=73072"},"modified":"2023-06-07T14:57:33","modified_gmt":"2023-06-07T12:57:33","slug":"cento-anni-fa-1923","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/cento-anni-fa-1923\/","title":{"rendered":"One Hundred Years Ago: 1923"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>Now in its 20th anniversary year, the\u00a0<em><strong>One Hundred Years Ago<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>section continues its annual exploration of a single year in cinema\u2019s rich and varied history with a selection of enduring classics and archival rarities as well as thought-provoking documentaries from 1923.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->This year we turn our attention to the <strong>exiled Russian filmmakers<\/strong> working at the studio Films Albatros in France, the <strong>birth of the western<\/strong> as a serious genre in Hollywood, the pinnacle of <strong>expressionist cinema<\/strong> in Germany, and the last embers of the <strong>diva film genre in Italy<\/strong>. Newsreel footage of the time, meanwhile, preserves major events for posterity on film, such as the Great Kant\u014d earthquake devastating Tokyo or the discovery of Tut-Ankh-Amun\u2019s tomb.
