{"id":70873,"date":"2022-07-01T11:16:18","date_gmt":"2022-07-01T09:16:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/?p=70873"},"modified":"2022-07-01T11:16:18","modified_gmt":"2022-07-01T09:16:18","slug":"il-cinema-ritrovato-2022-alla-riscoperta-dellinfanzia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/il-cinema-ritrovato-2022-alla-riscoperta-dellinfanzia\/","title":{"rendered":"Il Cinema Ritrovato 2022 rediscovering childhood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201c&#8221;It was during that terrible time and I had seen enough to feel profoundly upset and distraught; [&#8230;] I thought: &#8216;now children really are watching us!&#8217; It was children, the shoeshine boys, that helped me make sense of it all, to understand how profound the moral destruction of the country was.&#8221; These are the words of <strong>Vittorio De Sica<\/strong> on the harsh reality of the post-war years he would portray in <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/film\/sciuscia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Sciusci\u00e0<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, a masterpiece that gave birth to neorealism. We will watch it today <strong>at the Arlecchino Cinema at 4 PM<\/strong>, while <strong>at 12 PM<\/strong> there will be a <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/film\/sciuscia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Cinema Lesson<\/strong><\/a> dedicated to its production history. At both appointments we will be able to meet\u00a0<strong>Rinaldo Smordoni<\/strong>, who played one of the two shoeshine boys in the film. Of course, <em>Sciusci\u00e0<\/em> isn&#8217;t the only film about children gaze, purity and unique point of view among the ones screened at Il Cinema Ritrovato this year.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/bunt.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-0\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-67292 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/bunt-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Bunt na kuklite\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/bunt-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/bunt-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/bunt-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/bunt-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/bunt-800x450.jpg 800w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/bunt.jpg 1454w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today at Jolly Cinema at 2 PM we will screen one of the most beautiful short film of the festival, <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/film\/bunt-na-kuklite\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Bunt na Kuklite <\/strong><\/em><\/a>(Jugoslavia\/1957). \u00abA wonderfully playful and symbolic manifestation of the <strong>spirit of childhood<\/strong> can be found in <strong>Dimitrie Osmanli<\/strong>\u2019s short fiction debut. The film follows a little girl with her doll who meets a neighbourhood boy with his tank; after her doll is damaged we are invited into a surreal dream where dolls rise up against the boy and their face resembles the little girl he hurt. The rebellion of the dolls signifies a rebellion against the boy\u2019s malice and essentially against his refusal to be like a child. The dream yields fruit: on waking up, the boy, grateful to be alive, has joy restored in his heart and runs to makes amends with the little girl.\u00a0<em>Bunt na kuklite\u00a0<\/em>renders the concept of rebellion as an internal event: an uprising of the conscience against the spirit of cruelty and disobedience and as a lesson to the little boy shows true conscience restored in the spirit of gentleness. Dimitrie Osmanli here directed one of the most original shorts in Yugoslav cinema and he would go on to make his mark in feature films.\u00bb (Mina Radovi\u0107)<\/p>\n<p>The theme of lost, stolen and rediscovered childhood is recurring in the section of the festival dedicated to <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/sezione\/dite-la-verita-uno-sguardo-sul-cinema-jugoslavo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>jugoslav cinema<\/strong><\/a>. We already had the chance to appreciate it in <strong><i>Ne<\/i><i>okre\u0107i\u00a0<\/i><i>se, <\/i><i>sine <\/i><\/strong>(1956) by <strong>Branko Bauer<\/strong> (the story of a man that find out that his young son as been indoctrinated to fascist ideology) or in <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/film\/deveti-krug\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Deveti Krug<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (1960, there will be a repeat on July, 2n at Jolly Cinema) by <strong>France \u0160tiglic<\/strong>, where the childhood play acts as a counterpoint to the awful experience in the concentration camp.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-70884\" src=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini-300x219.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"219\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini-300x219.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini-1024x746.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini-768x560.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini-1536x1120.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini-600x437.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini-800x583.jpg 800w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini-1600x1166.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/invaders-bambini.jpg 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>At 10.15 PM at the Europa Cinema<\/strong> a young boy is one of the main characters in the sci-fi flick <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/film\/invaders-from-mars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><i>Invaders<\/i><i>\u00a0<\/i><i>from<\/i><i>\u00a0<\/i><i>Mars<\/i><\/strong><\/a> (USA\/1953) by <strong>William Cameron Menzies<\/strong>. \u00abIn several moments, Menzies\u2019 expert mise en sc\u00e8ne makes effective use of an anomalous, distorted, childlike and oneiric point-of-view. [\u2026] It is possible to dismiss\u00a0<em>Invaders from Mars<\/em>\u00a0as a film for children, providing that you accept the ambiguities and troubling signs that punctuate it. [\u2026] Parents are transformed from loving educators into dictators (incidentally, there is perhaps a hint of apprehension in the secrecy of the missile projects the father is working on); an angelic little girl makes a demonic smile after setting fire to her own home; the bogeyman lands freely immediately outside the garden fence. It is a golden face enclosed in a glass jar and lacking tentacles, an impassive example of \u2018pure intelligence\u2019; at the same time, it produces the darkest nightmares and the most unforgettable dreams.\u00bb (Andrea Meneghelli)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/az-prijde-bambini.png\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-2\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-70883 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/06\/az-prijde-bambini-e1656605354695-300x190.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/az-prijde-bambini-e1656605354695-300x190.png 300w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/az-prijde-bambini-e1656605354695.png 564w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Among the other films we will be able to watch (or re-watch) in the next few days it is certainly worth to remember the beautiful <em><a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/film\/az-prijde-kocour-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>A\u017e p\u0159ijde kocour<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>by Vojt\u011bch Jasn\u00fd that will be repeated on <strong>July, 2nd at 2.30PM<\/strong> in sala Scorsese, where the children are absolute protagonists of a modern fairytale with components of satire and parable. \u00abThe key \u2018character\u2019 is a magical cat, whose gaze causes people to change colour according to their attributes and actions. Liars become violet, thieves are grey, unfaithful people are yellow and those in love become red. At the time of the film\u2019s original release, both general audiences and professionals assumed the colorization was produced through laboratory processing. But that was only partially true. The perfection of the trick was achieved through the actors\u2019 clothing and masking as well as Jaroslav Ku\u010dera\u2019s camerawork. His artistry is also visible in less spectacular scenes, where he underlines the beauty of the Czech countryside and the ph togenic grace of the town of Tel\u010d (whose Renaissance-era historic centre is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage sites). With this film, Jasn\u00fd confirmed his stature as a lyricist, combining his childhood experience with an allegory of society.\u00bb (Tom\u00e1\u0161 H\u00e1la).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/saddle.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-image-3\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-67284 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/05\/saddle-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Saddle Tramp\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saddle-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saddle-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saddle-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saddle-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saddle-600x338.jpg 600w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saddle-800x450.jpg 800w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saddle-1600x900.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/saddle.jpg 1996w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><strong>On Sunday, 3rd<\/strong> it&#8217;s the turn of <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/sezione\/hugo-fregonese-il-vagabondo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Hugo Fregonese<\/strong><\/a> to offer his point of view on the magical childhood world in <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/film\/saddle-tramp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Saddle Tramp<\/strong><\/em><\/a> (USA\/1950). \u00abThis deconstruction of the myth of freedom in the Old West begins when Chuck Conner (McCrea), a good-natured and gentle cowboy on his way to California, stops by to visit an old pal who dies in an accident that same night, leaving Chuck with four children to care for. Chuck has to hide his new family\u2019s existence when he is hired by a rancher with a hatred for children \u2013 and whose feud with the neighbouring cattle owner complicates Chuck\u2019s guardianship. The film belongs to a small cycle of westerns in which the cowboy\u2019s time in the blissful presence of children chimes with the end of the frontier and the beginning of settlement (<em>3 Godfathers, Bad Bascomb<\/em>). But Fregonese gives this familiar theme an extra depth, as well as a twist: by showing the children to be as infatuated by the myth of the wanderer as the cowboy is himself. It\u2019s up to the cowboy, in what amounts to an act of self-sacrifice, to bring the children to their senses by rejecting the only way of life he knows.\u00bb (Ehsan Khoshbakht)<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we have to remember that there is an entire section of the festival dedicated to <strong>kids, childhood and young cinephiles<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/sezione\/il-cinema-ritrovato-kids-young\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Il Cinema Ritrovato Kids<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, that with its programme full of laboratories, experiences and screenings is the best way to grow the passion for cinema&#8230; even for the smallest viewers!<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry, this entry is only available in Italiano. \u201cErano i giorni che sapete e ne avevo gi\u00e0 visto abbastanza per sentirmi profondamente turbato, sconvolto; [&#8230;] pensavo: &#8216;adesso s\u00ec che i bambini ci guardano!&#8217; Erano loro a darmi il senso, la misura della distruzione morale del paese: gli sciusci\u00e0\u201d.
