Tutti i film essenziali di Fellini, presentati nella maniera migliore, e un design divertente che non potrebbe essere pi\u00f9 appropriato. A questo vanno aggiunte oltre 20 ore di documentari sul maestro, interviste ai collaboratori e vari e disordinati materiali coevi, che inquadrano il periodo di uscita dei film. Il libretto comprende saggi a cura di diversi esperti felliniani ed \u00e8 impreziosito da meravigliose illustrazioni raccolte dall&#8217;archivio <em>Felliniana<\/em> di Don Young. All the essential films, in the best presentation possible, and a fun design that could not be more appropriate. Plus more than 20 hours of documentaries about the maestro, interviews of collaborators and pell-mell contemporary material which give us a better sense of the period that saw these films released. A booklet of essays by several Fellini experts is made all the more precious by wonderful illustrations culled from Don Young&#8217;s <\/em>Felliniana<em> archive. Morris Engel et Ruth Orkin \u0152uvres Compl\u00e8tes <\/strong>(USA, 1953-1968) &#8211; Carlotta Films (blu-ray)<\/p>\n<p>Coppia nella vita e sullo schermo, Morris Engel e Ruth Orkin hanno saputo cogliere con i loro film quella verit\u00e0 che spesso sfuggiva a Hollywood e che guardando al neorealismo italiano avrebbe poi influenzato la Nouvelle Vague francese. Questo cofanetto non solo raccoglie per la prima volta i loro film in blu-ray ma presenta anche una ampia scelta di corti inediti e alcuni preziosi home movie. Uno sconvolgente m\u00e9lange di finzione, reportage, lirismo. Realizzato nel 1947-48 da Alfr\u00e9d Radok all\u2019interno del vero campo di concentramento di Terezin\/Theresienstadt. Un\u2019opera molto amata dal giovane Alain Resnais. Il dvd del restauro \u00e8 arricchito da cinegiornali e documentari di varie epoche. Questa edizione blu-ray curata da Kino Lorber offre una valida scelta di materiali d\u2019archivio, testi inediti e un inestimabile commento audio della stessa regista, inserendo <em>Variety<\/em> a pieno titolo tra i classici moderni, uno dei film pi\u00f9 geniali del cinema americano sui piaceri del voyeurismo. This blu-ray presentation from Kino Lorber supports the film superbly with archive production imagery, new writing and an invaluable audio commentary from the director herself. This disc situates <\/em>Variety <em>squarely as a modern classic and one of American cinema\u2019s most astute films on the thrills of voyeurism. Questa splendida edizione del film manifesto dell\u2019anti autoritarismo firmato da L\u00e9ontine Sagan rende giustizia al suo spirito artistico e ribelle cos\u00ec come al suo valore sia nel contesto della cultura cinematografica di Weimar che in quello delle origini del cinema queer. Davvero apprezzabile il lavoro di restauro curato da Deutsche Filminstitut e Filmmuseum, e il commento audio di Jenni Olson che ci guida attraverso la scoperta di straordinari contenuti extra, approfondite analisi del film, della sua uscita e della sua influenza nel XXI secolo. This beautifully considered release of L\u00e9ontine Sagan\u2019s landmark anti-authoritarian film does justice to its artistry and rebellious spirit as well as its value both in the context of Weimar film culture and the long history of queer cinema. The restoration work by the Deutsches Filminstitut and Filmmuseum is very welcome and the feature-length audio commentary by Jenni Olson leads a set of exceptional extras, which provide thoughtful analysis of the film, its exhibition history and its resonance in the 21st century. Questo blu-ray \u00e8 splendidamente prodotto e confezionato con un fantastico design di copertina e sorprendenti contenuti speciali, tra cui il cortometraggio <em>Tauw<\/em> dello stesso Semb\u00e8ne. Per me il Migliore DVD Singolo. (Shivendra Singh Dungarpur)<\/p>\n<p><em>A wonderful presentation of the 4K restoration of the first ever film made in the African language Wolof by the Father of African cinema \u2013 Ousmane Semb\u00e8ne &#8211; one of the most significant and influential films from the African continent. The blu-ray is beautifully produced and packaged with a stunning cover design and amazing special features including the short film <\/em>Tauw<em> by Semb\u00e8ne himself, making it, in my opinion, the Best Single Release. Jean-Marie Straub se ne lamentava gi\u00e0 nel 1967. Scoprire un&#8217;opera cos\u00ec potente attraverso un\u2019uscita DVD, che copre oltre quarant\u2019anni di produzione, \u00e8 un&#8217;imbarazzante ammissione di ignoranza o una benedizione mascherata. Vedere questi documentari sugli schermi televisivi o nei festival non pu\u00f2 essere paragonato a questa possibilit\u00e0 che ora abbiamo di seguire la crescita di Nestler, la sua ricerca della giusta distanza e il porsi le giuste domande. \u00a0(Philippe Garnier)<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Survivance is a well-named label to pay tribute to a documentarist as secret and as little known as Germany&#8217;s Peter Nestler. Jean-Marie Straub lamented this as early as 1967. To discover such a powerful work in a DVD release that covers over forty years is either an embarrassing admission of ignorance or a blessing in disguise, as catching these documentaries on TV screens or in festivals cannot compare with following Nestler&#8217;s progress, his research for the right distance, and the right questions. Pietra miliare nella storia del cinema, <em>La Roue<\/em> fu rimaneggiato pi\u00f9 di una volta dallo stesso Abel Gance, subendo inoltre l\u2019incuria degli anni. Il restauro, condotto sotto la preziosa supervisione della Fondation J\u00e9rome Seydoux-Path\u00e9 con la collaborazione della Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que Fran\u00e7aise e della Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que Suisse ha permesso di recuperare la versione pi\u00f9 vicina a quella che fu proiettata per la prima volta nel 1931: sei ore di film in blu-ray che confermano l\u2019affermazione di Cocteau \u00abesiste un cinema prima e dopo <em>La Roue<\/em> come esiste una pittura prima e dopo Picasso\u00bb. Completano l\u2019opera un intero dvd di extra e un libro che ripercorre scrupolosamente la storia del film e del suo restauro eseguito presso l\u2019Immagine Ritrovata Bologna-Paris. A milestone in the history of cinema, <\/em>La Roue<em> was remodelled more than once by Abel Gance himself, also suffering the neglect of the years. The restoration, carried out under the precious supervision of the Fondation J\u00e9rome Seydoux-Path\u00e9 with the collaboration of the Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que Fran\u00e7aise and the Cin\u00e9math\u00e8que Suisse, made it possible to recover the version closest to the one that was shown for the first time in 1931: six hours of film on blu-ray, which confirm Cocteau&#8217;s statement &#8220;there is cinema before and after <\/em>La Roue<em>, just as there is painting before and after Picasso\u201d. An entire DVD of extras and an accompanying book to complete the work, which scrupulously traces the history of the film and its restoration by L\u2019Immagine Ritrovata Bologna-Paris. Anderson che ha debuttato a Pesaro nel 1967 con artisti del calibro di Godard, visto dal pubblico americano solo nei drive-in rurali e lanciato nel 1970 dal distributore di soft-porno Joseph Brenner con il titolo lascivo <em>Miss Jessica Is Pregnant<\/em>. Se <em>Faces<\/em> di John Cassavetes non fosse stato selezionato al posto del lavoro di Anderson al New York Film Festival del 1967, forse non avremmo dovuto aspettare mezzo secolo per scoprire questo straordinario esempio di Americana. Opere degli anni Sessanta come <em>Wanda<\/em> o <em>A Killer of Sheep<\/em> ci hanno mostrato l&#8217;America urbana dall\u2019interno, Anderson fa lo stesso per l&#8217;America rurale, una versione moderna dell&#8217;incesto e delle madri nubili nel sud dell\u2019Ohio.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joseph L. Anderson&#8217;s black and white country shocker premiered in Pesaro in 1967 with the likes of Godard, but the American public saw it only in rural drive-ins, released in 1970 by the soft-porn distributor Joseph Brenner under the prurient title <\/em>Miss Jessica Is Pregnant<em>. Had not John Cassavetes&#8217; <\/em>Faces<em> been selected over Anderson&#8217;s work at the 1967 New York Film Festival, we may not have waited half a century to discover this extraordinary piece of Americana which may be its equal. The films have a candid and intimate quality, but they also reflect many of the early signs of his filmmaking style that evolved in his later works.
