{"id":62925,"date":"2021-06-11T12:24:44","date_gmt":"2021-06-11T10:24:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/?p=62925"},"modified":"2021-06-11T12:24:44","modified_gmt":"2021-06-11T10:24:44","slug":"arsenio-lupin-al-cinema-ritrovato-in-un-film-komiya-del-1909","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/en\/arsenio-lupin-al-cinema-ritrovato-in-un-film-komiya-del-1909\/","title":{"rendered":"Ars\u00e8ne Lupin visits Il Cinema Ritrovato (in a Komiya film from 1909!)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p>While Netflix launches the second part of the tv series <em><strong>Lupin<\/strong><\/em>, with <strong>Omar Sy<\/strong>, and Toei animation announces the new animated series of <em><strong>Lupin the third<\/strong><\/em>, the character created by Monkey Punch as an\u00a0<strong>Ars\u00e8ne Lupin<\/strong> direct descendant, the <strong>gentleman thief<\/strong> comes to visit Il Cinema Ritrovato, too.<\/p>\n<p>In the section dedicated to the <a href=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/sezione\/in-un-labirinto-di-immagini-la-komiya-tomijiro-collection\/\"><strong>Tomijiro Komiya Collection<\/strong><\/a>, we will be able to enjoy seven minutes of daring actions with one of the first film appearances of the <em>gentleman cambrioleur<\/em>, portraited by the Path\u00e9 star <strong>Max Linder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-62930 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/06\/Le-Vouleur-Mondaine-poster-222x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"222\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Le-Vouleur-Mondaine-poster-222x300.png 222w, https:\/\/ilcinemaritrovato.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/Le-Vouleur-Mondaine-poster.png 595w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 222px) 100vw, 222px\" \/>In <em><strong>Le vouleur mondain<\/strong><\/em> (France, 1909), directed by Linder himself on a screenplay by <strong>Georges Fagot<\/strong>, Ars\u00e8ne Lupin assaults the embassy of Pennsylvania to steal Lady W&#8217;s jewels and escapes the police&#8230; using a hot-air balloon!<\/p>\n<p>This film is just one of the many discoveries made possible by the passion of <strong>Tomijiro Komiya<\/strong>. Son of a restaurant owner, a\u00a0hundred years ago in Tokyo, he was collecting distribution prints of European films, maybe asking projectionists in the neighbourhood for snippets or frame cuts. Komiya was a fan of European cinema in general, but he especially loved Italian films, and his collection now is rich in unique prints of S.A. Ambrosio and Film d\u2019Arte Italiana.<\/p>\n<p>What remained of this legendary collection was donated to the National Film Center (now National Film Archive of Japan) in 1990. Ever since, precious Komiya prints have enriched Il Cinema Ritrovato\u2019s sections on Genina, Gr\u00e9millon, Capellani and Frusta. But it is high time to revisit the collection of Tomijiro Komiya as a subject in its own right.
