Film Notes

“This film is a fine, subtle satire on the everyday life of our womenfolk who, now forgetting all the charming delicacy and gentle grace with which they once behaved, now tend to behave like men, renouncing all their exquisitely feminine attractions in order to create a type of boyishness. I mention, in passing, the delightful new plot in this Venere in Frac (Venus in Tails) because the main interest is not in the piece itself but in the fine performance of Carmen Boni, our talented and modest Carmen Boni.

Carmen Boni, charming screen boy-actress, has an inexhaustible comic verve combined with a gaminèrie which is quite her own. She plays the role of the modern lady lawyer, a part which seems to have been made for her, with intelligent vivacity, in this successful paradoxical satire on changing times, Venere in Frac”.
