Until today we have known only one cinematic portrayal of Mussolini, as depicted by Istituto Luce: film documents which were all alike, as they followed strictly-defined codes of representation. These Pittaluga films reveal instead a different Mussolini, as they do not follow official points of view. These are fuzzy and shaky images, sometimes stolen from crowds in mass gathering, while instead Luce cameramen had always the best spots. These film documents can therefore provide us with new points of view and ideas.
