Film Notes

Louis, a lighthouse guard on leave, visits his wife on the mainland. Before leaving, his friend Paul reminds him not to forget to come back. Louis happens across a number of friends in a café. Recognizing that his time off is about to end, everyone tells him to stay. Time passes. Paul’s wife receives a letter from her husband: he will be home for his younger son’s birthday. Then she receives another letter: Paul will return home only if Louis reappears. Paul’s wife visits Louis’s wife, who is obviously hiding her husband. Overwhelmed by guilt, Louis reappears and goes back to sea. A woman’s voice then says: “Workers on leave, your fellow workers’ time off depends on your return. Don’t take advice from bad counselors”…
