Film Notes
The photography was marvellous and the Allies would not equal the excellence of the combat footage for years to come. Noldan’s animated maps were wonderful, and would be copied by Disney in the Why We Fight series. Windt’s score is good. The film is also highly effective in its use of captured enemy footage for ironic effect, another lesson that Capra would remember in the Why We Fight series. What the film most needs is strong directorial talent, but in spite of its lack, the film is one of the most interesting to come out of National Socialist Germany.
