Film Notes

I had a telephone conversation with the Reichsmarschall [Göring]. He complained about the OKW’s [Oberkommando der Wehrmacht] protest against the new Leander film; this shows an aviator spending the night with a famous singer. The OKW consider itself insulted morally and insists that a Luftwaffe lieutenant wouldn’t act in that way. Göring, on the other hand, correctly considers that if a Luftwaffe lieutenant didn’t make use of such an opportunity, he simply wouldn’t be a Luftwaffe lieutenant. Göring pokes great fun at the sensitivity of the OKW. That’s fine grist for my mill, since the OKW creates many difficulties for me anyway in my film work.
